A coffee that is gathered, not farmed
Kopi Luwak begins with a detour. The common palm civet, a small nocturnal mammal of the Indonesian forests, picks the ripest coffee cherries, digests the pulp and leaves the stones intact. Digestive enzymes alter the protein structure of the bean and reduce its bitterness. The result is a dense coffee with low acidity and notes of cocoa, caramel and damp wood.
No one can force that step. It explains the scarcity of the product, its price, and the scale of counterfeiting on the market. Dr. Import works only with named collectors who document the origin of every sack.

What we bring
We are importers, not resellers. That changes three things.
A short chain
We buy directly from Indonesian collectors and cooperatives, with no trading intermediary. Every lot arrives with its origin, its harvest year and its collector.
Wild harvest only
We refuse lots from caged civet farming. Our position on animal welfare is a purchasing criterion, not a marketing line.
A check on arrival
Every lot is examined in Switzerland: bean appearance, moisture content, blind cupping. See the procedure.
Sensible quantities
50 g to discover, 250 g for regular use, trade packs for hospitality. See the range.
Why the price is not published
Kopi Luwak is a gathered product, not an industrial one. The volume available varies each year with the season, the area and the collector, and the purchase price follows. Publishing a fixed rate would amount to publishing a false one.
So we issue a named quotation, valid for thirty days, based on the lot available and the quantity you want. See how to request a quotation.
